RIce Inn/Fanwood - New Owner?

sivyaleah May 7, 2013 03:14 PM

Does anyone know if Rice Inn in Fanwood has new owners? I was just over there for the first time in many months. There was a very young couple cooking, and no other people there that I recognized. Two young kids helping; in fact, far too young; a boy of about 10-12 ran my credit card and there was a very small girl in the back, about 8 maybe? She was spooning out rice into pints to hold for later on (BTW, shouldn't rice NOT be dole out like this? Isn't it a health hazard? I remember getting food poisoning years ago and it was blamed on white rice that had been held at the wrong temperature).

Anyway, the food was terrible. It pains me to even type that because Rice Inn has been a favorite of mine for like 15 years now. I got a pork dish that frankly, the meat tasted past its prime. Shrimp with Lobster sauce that had no flavor at all, totally flat, and, there were odd clear globs of gelatin it, which I've never seen in this dish before. Beef Fried Rice that was so sticky, you couldn't even discern it was a rice dish.

The only good thing, were the shrimp toasts.

We hardly touched our dinner. The left over went into the trash. Never, had that happen with this place before.

If they haven't sold, is it possible they are just on vacation and handed over the kitchen while gone?

Whatever the case, I won't be going back again. I don't live in the area any longer, and always made a special trip. This just left a bad taste, literally, with us.
