one open question is where should we do an approximate 10am gathering Sunday morning with our friends before they head back to holland and berlin? Two options are just gathering at like an Indiana at place bastille or some place fun in canal st martin?

we just want some place easy to get a big table at that time a terrace that is stroller friendly and with great people watching - reasonable prices would also be a plus for this group

merci as always!

  1. quite a swap on le train bleu for west country girl lol!

we will try to stop by the grand dame for a drink :)

    1. Uh oh, I just did a little search for fermetures annuelles... Le Voltaire will be closed most of August and Chez Denise for 3 weeks until 15 Aug. Plan B?

Re Le Grand Colbert, you do understand that it's only worth eating here if you limit yourself to the excellent shellfish menu and the steak tartare, right?

Indiana Café?!!! I feel faint... it's a chain not to be ever mentioned on Chowhound. :) Maybe the very stylish Café Français on the place Bastille @ rue St Antoine would be a better bet... and a petit-déjeuner formule for only €10... ignore all reviews on TA or elsewhere because it's been totally re-formulated and just re-opened a few weeks ago.

lol on Indiana no one on chowhound recommended..........we just want something simple where we can people watch and accommodate a large group with a stroller......will check on Cafe Francais - or should we go up to Canal St Martin?

plan B indeed as Pharamound is also closed in August..........back to paul bert for the bistro dinner?

between thoumieux and colbert which would you chose? or do you have a better upper end brasserie?

on West Country Girl is looks like the type of place we want - local and hip - we are planning on spending that afternoon at bastille/republique/musee Carnavalet so isn't that far out of the way?

        back to the drawing board!

If you're specifically looking for a creperie, jessica (who posted all about her recent honeymoon on this forum) really loved Le Pot o'Lait. They liked it so much they went multiple times. Don't know about their availability in August, though. That month is tough...

              1. re: ChefJune

yeah just knocked out Les Saisons as well :(

thanks - will add to the list!

              2. re: davidcotyalex

Breizh also closed in August. Not sure about the others.

merci! lol'g to the other thread and radiohead's increasing frustration with our timing!

le soufle?? it is just down the street from our hotel........

          2. I agree with Parnassien. This finetuning is finetuning for the worse. Who played a joke on you and told you to go to Indiana Café ?

            1. West country girl is a nice crèpe place... if you're in the neighborhood.

Please, don't cross town just to get there.
