Hometown Seafood Closed..but not quite

Hometown Seafood in Andover has closed the doors on their shop in downtown Andover. However..they are not going away completely which is great news to people like me who love the quality and freshness of their seafood.
Instead..they are now going to offer a Shore to Door program. This is a home delivery service. Basically what happens is they head to the docks twice a week for the freshest seafood, cut it and deliver it to you in your requested quantities.
If you are interested in being part of this service, there is a form you can fill out on their website ( At the moment they are offering this service for Andover and surrounding communities.

  1. I have lived in Andover for a long time and was sad to see them close and empty out the building. BUT, I am so happy I can still get their oh-so-fresh fish! I will still miss the fried calamari , salmon on a greek sald, etc...and of course, Deb, Gene and Gene Jr!

I will miss their cooked food as well! I got an e-mail stating that they are expecting to start the service next week. I am guessing the selection will not be quite as varied as they had in the store..but it will be interesting to see what they offer.

    2. I was disappointed to find that they aren't delivering very far; we are less than 6 miles from the old storefront and can't participate. However, they did send an email saying that they are going to try to find some pick-up locations for those that aren't in the delivery area.

I am thinking that if they have enough people interested who are not in the service area they will go this route. I wonder what the cutoff is for distance..?
