Jeebus H. Criminy. It's driving me nuts. That grey banner ad at the top--

Just as you're about to click on your profile page, ZAP. The banner appears out of nowhere, and your click lands on that-- whisking you away to an annoying Facebook ad.

I've already accidentally clicked on the stupid thing 3 times. (I know some smarmy marketing guys are high fiving themselves as they read this rant). Yeah, victory. You putzes.

I know those clicks are paying your bills, Chow dot com. But it's at the price of my sanity. I need you to stop it. Now.

  1. Ad block is your friend and its free. I see no ads except for the "from Chow and sponsored partners" row at the bottom of the page.

Wow. I should have done that years ago.

Thank you foodieX2. And thank you, smarmy marketing putzes!

I know, I had a huge head slap last year when someone told me,

    2. The other night after I read Charles Yu's post on Char Siu in Hong Kong I got a banner ad for an Asian dating service, which I thought was pretty awesome.

      1. I agree w you Mr Taster and I'm sure it's no coincidence that the button to click to the Samsung ad is directly above the profile name.

I installed adblock on my macbook but I'm going to have to do so on my ipad too.

        1. About 10 times for me now.

It's not even accidental at this stage.

I KNOW I am clicking my profile page link well before the banner loads, yet it STILL directs me to the Facebook ad.

Terrible. Come on, CH, don't be such bozos.

It's STILL up there, acting all disruptive.

            I'm getting a Windows phone.

          2. Wow, I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it. The strawberry slushie margarita thing on the right is what catches my eye every time.
