Happy to see Ching from Easy Chinese nominated. I really enjoy that show even though I will probably never make any of the food.

That's the beauty and appeal of some cooking shows; you know you will never make the food being prepared, but just watching the process and learning something is worth the time invested. That why most FN shows don't measure up; the process is often amateurish and there is nothing new to learn. Serious cooking shows (most of which are on PBS stations) are educational while most FN shows are shear entertainment at a low level. There are some exceptions, like Ina Garten, but those convoluted "story lines" always get in the way and make it somewhat less credible.

Yeah I don't watch too many actual cooking shows on Food Network, unless I happen to be at home during the day and I have it on as background noise... but I guess I'm not really watching it at that point :) I love Ina Garten, she taught me to cook back in 2007, but at this point I don't learn much new from her shows.

Ching's show is on Cooking Channel, and I enjoy many of the shows on there, especially the ones that are on Saturday mornings. Little Paris Kitchen with Rachel Khoo is another good one on there.

I have hundreds of cable channels but do not get the Cooking Channel so I am unfamiliar with those shows. Are they worth checking out online?

I think about 1/3 is with checking out. Talking about new shows, not FN retread/reruns to fill air time.

I love Easy Chinese! I've made a couple of her recipes--total success. I'm not very experienced with making Chinese food, so the easy part is quite appealing to me.

It always amazes me that Sandra Lee gets nominated.

Sad to see so few PBS nominations; those are pretty much the only cooking programs I watch having weaned myself from most if not all FN shows. But then, these are the Emmys after all.
