There is also a Carribean Cafe at on Webb Chapel at Beltline that is good. It's in a strip center, but inside is nice and everything I've eaten there has been delicious. I'm not an expert on Cuban cuisine, but it seems to be authentic.

Unfortunately, Donnie is right. The only authentic Cuban place closed several years ago. There are a number of newer restaurants doing a Latin fusion thing, where you might be able to find some Cuban influenced dishes. La Duni and Bistro Latino are the better ones. Good luck.

Tried Bistro Latino the other night. Great food and mojitos that will knock your socks off ... but definitely not the Lechon Asado or Ropa Vieja I've been craving. Que lastima!

Not cuban, but Cafe Venezuela is good and seems authentic. They are moving, so are closed but say they are opening early in August. (214) 342-0393

Unfortunately, the only Cuban in Dallas is Mark.

Thanks, Donnie. That's definitely Dallas' loss!

If you make it to Houston, visit El Meson in the Rice Village.

I was there last week, and it was great.

White rice, ground beef and raisns, platains, and carrots.

              Yummy!

I would say that in houston Piquet's on bellaire and Cafe Miami are the best Cuban.

Houston's best Cuban is La Vina.

                  La Vina Restaurant
                  9419 Richmond Ave
                  Houston TX 77063
                  713.914.0810

Cafe Miami closed. There's another Cuban called Mojitos in Sugar Land that is good. Avoid Latina Cafe inside the Loop.
