Walking by when I went to Cal Day Sat 4/20/13 I noticed in the window Purple Kow coming soon sign. They are planning to sell beer, wine, & food. I don't know when it'll open, hope to hear some reports back when it is. I know there's been some reports from the SF shop.

  1. I don't know why they bother. They can't even timely do their drinks at the SF store. I stopped going there because there is always a long line and it takes them forever to churn anything out.

    1. Any updates on this?

It was open today, with a line pretty far out the door at noon. I also noticed a temporary, handwritten sign on notebook paper that said "open 11-5", which I assume are temporarily short hours.

Not much of a line when I wandered by on Wednesday at 2:45, so I gave it a try. I ordered one of the "Iced Milk" drinks with pudding and boba. The boba were good, but the milk (the kids working there said it was whole milk, as opposed to the milk teas, which use a soy milk) left a weird coating in my mouth, like non-dairy creamer. And it was crazy sweet. Their milk teas or fruit drinks may be better, but with so many other options for that kind of thing I doubt I'll be back. The sweet potato fries with sugar, salt, pepper, and plum powder sound interesting, but maybe not interesting enough to brave a longer line.

The cashier admitted he was "completely freaking out," when he took my order and it took 25 minutes to get my drink even without a line, so it seems they're still working out the kinks.

The space is very pretty, with lots of exposed wood and schmancy light fixtures. It seems like a place to go if you're 18 and want to hang around somewhere.

Hours have been updated to 11-6. Maybe they're adding an hour a day?
