Hi All,

First time visit to Dallas this week. Going with my wife and sister-in-law and staying a couple days. Heard really good things about Smoke and saw the menu online and it looks delicious. Looking for dinner/lunch recs. My wife likes Mexican and Asian food. I like anything good with a cold beer. I was thinking tracking down a food truck like sshambbq for the kimchie fries and some koren tacos (or easy slider). Love Korean food. We're from Chicago so there's good Korean food here. We'll be in downtown on Friday so any recs for lunch (thinking Smoke) would be great. I like going to places that are not too touristy and somewhere the locals go. No BBQ since we'll be getting back/heading to Lockhart and no Vietnamese since we'll be eating that all day in Houston. Many thanks.

A huge second for Smoke! If convenient, have their great brunch served on weekends. Also try their excellent and popular sister restaurant, Bolsa in the Bishop Arts area.
The Bishop Arts area is loaded with great, non-touristy "neighborhood" restaurants. Arguably, the best food neighborhood in Dallas.

As you're going to be in the Highland Park area, I highly recommend Royal China in the N/E corner
of the Preston Royal Shopping Center.

    Mexican: The real thing....
These are the Mexican restaurants I usually eat at and highly recommend.......

El Ranchito. Great Cabrito and roving Mariachi band. Very authentic!

Gonzalez. Great Tex-Mex. Be sure to ask for the "salsa fresca"! You have to ask for it with your chips or you get like salsa from a jar. Great home made flour tortillas.

El Tizoncito. Excellent authentic Mexico City style tacqueria with meat carved off a vertical Trompo rotisserie at three locations in Dallas. Very comfortable. And, they make their own tortillas. Great drinks, too.

Mesa. Authentic, upscale food of Veracruze.
Considered, "the best in town". And it is!

In Richardson, Casa Milagro for best Tex-Mex in a very comfortable setting with great food, service, and drinks.

Also, downtown Dallas has a new Mexican restaurant called Meso Maya. (A branch of their Preston Forest restaurant). I haven't been there yet but it's getting good reviews.
