Singapore - Weekend brunch options at Café & Bar Gavroche

  • 1

The smaller sister-outlet to Brasserie Gavroche across the street, Café & Bar Gavroche has a popular, no-reservations, first-come-first-served weekend brunch, serving up continental classics.

What we had this morning:
- Croque Madame - fried sandwich filled with Gruyere cheese and ham, smothered with Béchamel sauce and topped by a sunny-side-up fried egg. Cloyingly rich. The bread was a bit too thick and dry from overcooking.
- Scrambled eggs on brioche fared a bit better - buttery-rich.
- Eggs Benedict - perfectly poached eggs, hyper-rich Hollandaise sauce with ham on toasted muffin. Nice.
- Scrambled eggs with sausages - greasy. Didn't like the herbed sausages.

Overall, nice, pleasant spot for breakfast, but didn't display the class and finesse in cooking of the older Brasserie Gavroche.

  1. I'm not aware that Brasserie Gavroche opens for breakfast now. Oh wait, it has a sister restaurant across the street? Must check it out. Thanks for the tip!
