Eclipse Chocolates dinner events
We had the pleasure of dining there during the "Return of the Aporkalypse" event on a Friday night. It was our first time at the new location, which is much more spacious and with a boatload more waitstaff.
The dinner was held in a back room, nice modern decor, well lit, and spacious.
Menu is below, as well as a photo of the dessert (i normally don't take food photos, sorry for the quality).
We skipped the starter so we wouldn't be grossly stuffed.
The mushroom soup was creamy mushroomy goodness, could have used a bit more of the bacon kick.
Entrees were just ok, the short rib had a nice char but tough in some spots. Pork chop was not cooked evenly and had an odd texture in areas, perhaps just a bum cut.
Dessert was everything i hoped for, a rich decadent salted caramel sauce with hicorky and bourbon flavors, all delicate but finely meshed.
The ice cream sandwich was almost simply a vehicle for the caramel sauce. A bit too cold (and solid), but the bacon sprinkles were a nice touch.
Service was kinda shakey, beer pairings were coming out too early or too late and we sat with empty glasses for quite a while (a few time). However, our food courses arrived at the same time and were paced well.
Overall a fun dinner, and it came with a discount in the store so I loaded up on a few chocolate bars. Anyone else been to any of the Eclipse dinner events they are hosting on weekends now?
I see they do brunch also, interested in checking that out sometime.
That seems on par with what I would expect.
I've been to brunch twice now. Both times the sweet or chocolatey items have been excellent, the savory courses have been ok.
I think they try to hard to make every dish have a "dessert" element to it and a lot of the time it doesn't work.
But the sweet courses are great. They do a great job of using salt to enhance them and the drinking chocolates work really well.
Service has been very spotty both times.
They are clearly a really good chocolate shop trying to figure out how to be a restaurant. I hope they can do it.
