Dinner recommendations in Cape May?

Going to Cape May soon, before a lot of the restaurants are open for the
season. I'd appreciate any recommendations for places that would be
open for dinner. Haute cuisine not necessary, just good food and service
and an appealing setting.

  1. The Ebbitt Room at The Virginia Hotel meets your criteria. I've had two very nice meals there.

    1. Been a while, but the Mad Batter always did a good job.

      1. One of your best dinners ever will be here if you have the coin:

I also like the Washington Inn, though I thought The Ebbitt Room was a bit better. Either way, you can't go wrong and will have a very nice dinner.

        2. I love the Ebbit Room. When I'm down with wifey that's where we do a bee line for.

I always thought the Mad Batter was known as a breakfast-lunch place at best. No?

I'm heading down to CM with some friends this weekend (guys weekend - birding, fishing, some SJ wineries and just hanging out) - one of em, a freind from HS, is a gourmet cook with a specialty on Thai/Vegetarian. After last weekend up in the Poconos with my wife's friends (where it was all red meat), I'm looking to stabilize my cholesterol a bit down there.

          1. We've been going to Black Duck on Sunset for the past several years when we're in Cape May. Not stuffy, but comfortable. BYO. Great food, great service.
