I'm looking for a really good recipe for sables. Does anyone have experience with Dorie Greenspan's recipe or with the Cooks Illustrated recipe which uses a hard cooked egg yolk?

  1. I'm chiming in because I want to hear the answers. Good question!

    1. I love the Pierre Herme chocolate fleur de sel sables recipe. It is SO good:

        Hi Helen,
I have heard those are good; thanks for confirming. I am looking for a vanilla sable---I should have stated that :0) Can you suggest any good vanilla sable recipes?

Afraid I haven't, but I wouldn't hesitate to try Dorie's recipe. Every recipe I've made of hers has turned out well (I think she has worked with Pierre Herme)

      2. I made Dorie's - they are very good. You can find a step by step tutorial on my blog. Excuse the poor photos - they were taken years ago.

I could not find the tutorial, ButterYum, but I really enjoyed your blog :0)

        2. I made Dorie's sables in Baking from My Home to Yours. They were FANTASTIC!
