Cheapest store to buy fresh herbs?

korrie Apr 24, 2013 01:00 PM

I'm going to buy some herb plants, but in the meantime, I'm wondering if anyone knows which store sells herbs for cheapest. I need basil and oregano. I usually buy them at Dominick's because it's convenient, but I need a decent amount for this recipe, and it's expensive there. I don't require organic or anything, but that's all they have at Dominick's.

I have access to a car this evening, so anywhere around the far north side, the north side, and even into the north suburbs is reasonable.

Also, any tips on growing herbs would be great too! It'll be my first time trying it, but I'm hoping it'll save me money since I cook with fresh herbs often. Thanks!

Probably too late but if you are far north I'd try Fresh Farms on Touhy.

Awesome, thanks. Also, for anybody reading this, I found a huge tub (4oz) of basil at Dominick's for $4. Extremely reasonable. Perfect if you're making a caprese sald or margherita pizza or something. I never knew they sold that.
