Anyone know where I can buy tandoori skewers in the South Bay? Just got a kamado grill and want experiment with tandoori.

Any of the Indian grocers should have the skewers you seek. I am not familiar with the ones in the South Bay, but they are in the East Bay shops.

Thanks! Didn't even occur to me to look there. There are a couple I know of in the south bay. Will check them out.

Have you had any experience doing these at home?

Its hard to get the heat that a tandoor has from anything but a tandoor. Pakwan in Hayward was giving away a cracked tandoor for free but I didn't have a truck and didn't have a place to put it, but boy was I tempted. Some of the big importers actually sell tandoors - there's that one in San Leandro near the school supplies place, Lakeshore, but they are pricey. Good luck!

i've seen some guys on the internet rig up a kamado grill to do tandoor. not sure how it compares to the real thing, but i'll give it a try.
