Pre-wedding luncheon - Hells Kitchen, Lincoln Center, UWS

Hi guys,

I am looking for a restaurant to host a small (10-12) person luncheon for my closest girlfriends/family the day before my wedding. What I think should be one of the easiest things to plan, has somehow been the hardest. I'd like to stay between the 40s and the low 70s on the westside, $50 max per person (not including alcohol), with new american, italian or french food -- too hard dealing with people's finicky eating issues with a more adventurous cuisine. I tried Marea, The Modern and A Voce -- but all are requiring a minimum spend of well over $50 per person because they require us to use their private rooms for a group that size (which I find ridiculous for a Friday in August in NYC). Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Have you tried:

    The Smith
    Telepan
    Ed's Chowder House
    Marseille
    Atlantic Grill

Thanks for the suggestions. Smith is too casual and Telepan is a bit stogy for this. I only like the bar at Ed's too. I don't know marseille or Atlantic grill- I'll check both out. Thanks!

The lunch at either Jean Georges or Nougatine are some of the great values out there.

I'd think Ocean or Atlantic Grill would be great, not sure about Marseille (I love it for its price point, just not sure of it for the stated event)

Vice Versa (Ital in the W50's) might work quite well too. Def in your price point and spacious enough.

I was just looking at Nougatine- I had forgotten about it. We'll see what they say- all these restaurants are requiring private rooms and minimums - which I find quite ridiculous for a Friday in August lunch- no one is even in the city then!

Well, good lunch Prix Fixes are not hard to find, stay away from midtown and the snooty places and you'll be welcome with your 12 girls

Del Posto (I know, outside your goegraphical bounds)

Maialino - perfect ambiance for what I think you want (as best as a 50 yo man knows)

        Manzo (in Eataly)

        Felidia

        Lincoln

Pre fix isn't the problem- the size of the party is. Actually having the rehearsal dinner at maialino.

I'm betting party size will not be an issue at Del Posto or Felidia. Call and see.

Good choice in Maialino (I guess I am good at this)

For a party of 10-12, Maialino, Del Posto, Lincoln, Felidia and most upscale restaurants will require a private dining room and food/beverage minumums that would exceed the OP's budget.

For lunch I doubt it, particularly at Del Posto and Felidia ,...

                She can call and see.

I see. There's a peter j I used to know who lives in NY now, whom I met in DC. But you are not he. :(

Have you looked into Vice Versa? Sounds like the perfect spot for you and your friends.
