Seeking good lump charcoal in SD year round.

Recommendations anybody? Preferably La Jolla or points south.

Near my home, Whole Foods has the best lump. Unfortunately, the WF corporate office has decided that people only barbecue is the months of June, July, August, and September, so this has become a seasonal item.

Barbecues Galore's lump is lump awful.
Home Depot's is slightly better and strangely expensive.
Smart and Final has Best of the West mesquite. I don't like mesquite alone. Too unpredictable.

Thanks. Excellent suggestion. I just gave Siesels a call since it's significantly closer to my abode. Mission accomplished.

BBQ Depot on Clairemont or Iowa Meats may have a good choice.

It's been a number of years since I last tried it, so maybe it's improved. When I last used BBQ Galore charcoal, I found the lump sizes very inconsistent, making it more difficult to control the heat with precision. There was also an overabundance of "fines" (charcoal dust), which just clog the airflow and create ash without giving much heat.

Here's a fantastic site that ranks lump charcoal. The interweb is a great thing.

My favorite is seasonal, so I left it out of the original post:

You can order Wicked Good Lump from Ace Hardware and have it delivered to the store of your choice.

All the other lump charcoal in San Diego is terrible.
