Dinner for 6 in Philly

We made a reservation for Amado. Good choice? Staying near convention center.

  1. Sure, why not...but it's Amada, not Amado.

    1. Amada's a great choice. One of our favorites.

To make it even more special you might consider looking into the whole suckling pig, if that is something that you like.

      2. +3 on Amada. We have always enjoyed the small plated food and the variety of options commensurate with tapas. A lively venue with a diverse crowd, a busy bar and rooms which can provide a bit of a buffer from bar noise. Good choice!

+4 on Amada. -1 on the pig (sorry, cw...the only pig I have ever not liked in my life!)

What didn't you like about it bluehensfan? I have had good luck with it. The pig I have liked the least is the one at Osteria...

It had too much of a pronounced "swiney," almost sour taste to it. The sides they served with it were great though.

I have had the suckling pig at Amada 3-4 times and always like it but this was at least a few years ago.

        2. If it matters to you, they generally put larger parties, 6-8, at tables with no back benches. Again if it matters, make the request on your reservation.

          1. Amada is a good choice for tapas and good for groups that size. It's not going to blow you away with innovative or exciting food.

With groups this size, the tasting menus are a great option at Amada. They bring out a ton of food and make sure everyone gets a good taste of each dish, which sometimes can be hard to do if you order a la carte at a tapas restaurant.
