Minneapolis-St. Paul Dish of the Month: May 2013 Nominations

Nominations will be open until 6pm Sunday April 28.

To keep things interesting, I would kindly request that next month's nominations be a specific dish, rather than a general broad category. For example, instead of just nominating "Tacos", state a specific type of taco (fish, tongue, etc.).

  1. Speaking of which..............

I would like to nominate Fish Tacos. After a recent trip to San Diego, I would love to see the offerings available here, as I have never had a fish taco in the Twin Cities.

I hear ya! Rubio's in San Diego was the best when I lived there years ago. Kinkaid's in Bloomington has some pretty decent ones you might want to try. But we do need a good fast food version -- Baja Sol is awful IMHO.

Maybe that amount of specificity may be too much.

                Lao-style it's hard to get a true Thai-style

            2. Personally think specifying the variety of dish, in this instance "Tacos", is too narrow. If it was "Friend Rice", would we do different months for Shrimp, Pork, etc? Or "Beef Burrito" vs. "Burritos"?

I can participate in "Tacos" (and this was going to be my suggestion being on a recent taco-kick, I promise walls of texts on them).

              So, "Tacos".

Again, it was just a request. You can nominate anything you want. :)

              2. This is more an ingredient than a single dish...but how about Salmon? Best way it's prepared and presented by any restaurant in the Cities?

Again, just nominate whatever you wish.

I like the Salmon nod, Jim, but how about waiting til the alaskan seasons open in june/july. It would give a little better range of the fish, besides the farmed fish being served right now. My 2 cents.

makes sense to me. I withdraw salmon to resubmit it in june or july.

                  2. I would just to inform everyone that I am withdrawing my request for specific dishes. Just go ahead and nominate whatever you wish. Thanks. :)
