I've never gotten take out, only eaten there, but I love Hummus Place. Everything I've had there is delicious - hummus, shakshuka, labane, salads...

Is there something is particular you're looking for?

We were trying to find an alternative to Turkuaz on 100th Street. We love all the kebabs, there, and that's what we were looking for: good lamb and good chicken. We ended up at Bodrum. It was very good but portions were much smaller than at Turkuaz. I'd forgotten about Hummus Place... and also Jerusalem Restaurant. Thanks to all who replied!

Yeah. Jerusalem Restaurant on Broadway near 104 St. Everything there is really good except for the baba ganouj, which you shouldn't get (way too smokey). Warning: Their stuff is quite oily.

Gazala's is phenomenal. Terrific bourek, very good grilled lamb. They also make knafeh to order, which is hard to beat.

I've found the uptown branch of Gazala's disappointing and not as good as the Midtown branch, and both branches are pricier than I like now. Has it improved lately?

I've only been to the uptown branch. I'm a bit of a Middle Eastern pastry addict and I thought the bourek here were better than anything I've bought in Brooklyn. The manaqish and kebabs are good as well. I haven't been in at least a year so can't say if anything has changed, but I was certainly very happy to have them in my neighborhood when I lived there.

Byblos and Al Bustan are fabulous authentic Syrian/Lebanese but unforunately not on the UWS.
          Worth the trip.
