Los Angeles Dish of the Month (May 2013) - Nominations

It's time to choose a Dish of the Month for Los Angeles for May 2013.

The April 2013 Dish of the Month (Burritos) was a great walk down memory lane for some of our great comfort food memories, and dug up some great, long-standing hidden gems. So lets see where are stomachs take us for May.

The idea is this: choose a 'Dish of the Month' for the LA area and then collectively try as many versions of this dish as possible during the month of May, reporting back with details and photos. It's great to talk about places you've been in the past, but the idea is to explore new places and make new discoveries.

The dish that gets chosen might be something very specific (Boston Creme Pie) but might also be more of a dish category (Cupcakes). It's up to everyone here, but it probably makes sense to choose something that locals are excited about trying and finding the best and most interesting versions!

Some ideas off the top of my head to perhaps get the juices flowing:

FRENCH FRIES
FRIED RICE
HOT DOGS
CALIFORNIA ROLLS
FISH TACOS
ICE CREAM
BENTO BOXES

Anyway, this is the nomination thread for May 2013…you can nominate as many dishes as you want, but once we do the voting thread (which will start on April 27), it will be one vote per user.

To nominate a dish, please (please!) post it in ALL CAPS in the responses below. This thread will be open until midnight PDT on April 26th.

Prairie oysters? A friend who recently moved to New Mexico is still getting acclimated to their new state. One of their neighbors has cattle and just finished castrating their bull calves. Guess what was on the menu at their neighbors'? They passed... and nearly passed out...
