Donut Man. I get it.

schrutefarms Apr 20, 2013 10:14 PM

Found myself on an impromptu Route 66 trip today, and what was on my way home? Donut Man. And it just happens to be strawberry season. Amazing. Delicious. Got a Bavarian cream, too, although I haven't tried it yet, but something tells me it'll be delicious. Now I'll have to go back for peach :)

    Just great.

Just means less donuts for me.

I'm not a big donut fan, but I think it's the inclusion of fresh fruit that did it for me. Made it something more than just a donut. Although, I also loved the Bavarian Cream, so that just blew my theory...

The strawberry (and peach) donuts are really fruit pies with donuts as crusts masquerading as "donuts"

My thoughts exactly. You can't exactly compare these to other donuts.

The problem is that their regular donuts are pretty mediocre and sometimes pretty bad. Only donut I really think is good is the tiger tail. It is not like the regular donuts are worth going to either. I much prefer Pixie Donuts in Claremont. Those are so good.

Went there a couple of months ago too for the 1st time. Wasn't planned either. The gf and I got in line at 11pm halfway around the building on a saturday nightso telling each other that it better be worth the wait. Neither of us are donut people. We saw what others were ordering and placed a large order just to try a little bit of different stuff and give away the rest to family.

We went home and had a taste of the strawberry donut... ohhhh geezzus!! Then we had the bavarian and then the tigertail and so on....

To this day we still talk about that epic night of donut eating.

We get it... and so did our waistlines.

I'd like to get it. I'm trying to get it. If getting it is wrong I don't want to be right. Get me? I'd better go now that the getting is good. Get out of town! Get it? Got it? Good! I had problems with this right from the get go...

As the Black Eyed Peas say, "Gotta get get!"

(Back on topic: I'd very much like to try both the strawberry and the peach donuts. When are the peach ones in season?)

Besides the fresh peach donuts, try the tigertails and the bear claws.

And the apple fritters. Such deep, dark, fried goodness...
