Favorite Tilamook Cheddar?

fldhkybnva Apr 18, 2013 06:30 PM

Well, I am spending much more time on the Cheese board then I ever thought I would. I have become quite the cheese fanatic all of a sudden. I love a good strong Cheddar a few current favorites are - Ford Farms Coastal Cheddar, Kerrygold Kilaree Cheddar, Kerrygold Reserve Cheddar and Dubliner. I have read a bit about Tilamook and it seems that there are a lot of fans of their aged cheeses. Are there any that you recommend?

My favorite Tillamook was one that I don't think is available any more -- they had a 5-year at the creamery. These days, once in a while you can get the 3-year at Sam's or Costco, but I haven't seen it in six months or so. it's available at the Tillamook site:
    Pricey though.

Yea, I think I've actually spotted the 3 year at my local Safeway next to the other Cheddars like Grafton (which is also on my do try list).

I like the Vintage White Extra Sharp:

but it's kind of pricey, so I don't get it often. Medium yellow is the standard, and it's often marked down.

I like that one as well, and get it at Costco.

I just picked this up this morning I think, it's a 3 year aged Cheddar. I am looking forward to it.

I think the correct answer is, "ALL OF THEM". Tillamook cheddar is just fantastic and the Vintage Extra Sharp is indeed a most delicious cheese.
