Rec needed for Monday night business dinner

sherrib Apr 18, 2013 05:53 PM

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I are taking someone out for a business dinner and can't think of where to go. Last time we went, we took this person to Gotham Bar and Grill. Where could we go now and be able to get reservations at this late date?

    You should consider Ai Fiori.

Why not do a search on Open Table to see which restaurants have openings for the time you would like to go? We all could suggest many restaurants, but there is no way of knowing if they have a reservation available without checking somehow. If you do the "leg work" and find a few restaurants with availability, we could then give you our suggestions on which ones are appropriate for a business dinner based on those restaurants. Makes sense?

Makes absolute sense! And makes me wonder "what the heck was I thinking with that post?!"

Ok, so what about the following:

        Ouest
        Mas (la grillade)
        The Post House
        Harding's

        TIA!

I've been to many business lunches/dinners at the Post House. It's fine. Traditional food. Safe bet.

Way too safe, and not that good any more... how about Toqueville. I've been to many business dinners there. IT's grown-up, pleasantly quiet, beautiful and the food is divine.

Love Tocqueville. Good suggestion. Love that you describe it as " grown up." It is.

I loved my dinner at Tocqueville (definitely need to return soon), but it's almost too charming for a business dinner. Really depends on your dining companion as to whether he/she would appreciate it.

Edit: there are many excellent restaurants showing availability for tomorrow night for a party of 3 on OpenTable depending on your preferred dining time, budget and location.

                  Thanks ellenost,
There are TOO many availabilities! It's difficult narrowing them down.

EMP has a 5:45 availability. If it's in your budget, I'd grab it (almost grabbed it myself, but my sister turned me down).

Personally, I would totally grab it! But I'd rather we go there next month for our wedding anniversary instead (even though we were there for my birthday in the fall and last year for our anniversary.). I can't get enough of that place!!

So, have you decided where you're going tonight?

After speaking to our guest and realizing that she's a veal lover, I took a shot and called Il Mulino and they said they would "fit us in." Delicious and a very nice New York experience for her as an out-of-towner. As an aside, their house made limoncello is to die for.
