Fil's Polish Deli-Cromwell

Had occasion to be in Fil's in Cromwell, CT twice in the past 2 weeks. Our Polish housekeeper was with us. She was a bit homesick for some of these imported delicacies.
Housekeeper was very impressed with the deli, cheeses and frozen selection. She looked at the many packaged grocery items from Poland, but showed us that many had expired sell by dates.
Housekeeper told us that one has to be very careful in these small ethnic groceries, as they don't have the necessary turnover on packaged goods to insure freshness.
Chocolate bars with nut filling, hermit like cookies with apple and raisin filling all expired in January. Wife picked up 2 bottles of lemon flavored soda water and was shown they expired in May 2012.

otoh>>>>Housekeeper was very happy with the mushroom and sauerkraut pierogies and the cheese and fruit crepes (blintzes).
