Chicken Madras in SW1/3/7 or maybe W1

Robin Joy Apr 18, 2013 07:24 AM

Meeting a couple of pals for a beer and may well eat later. None of us want an Amaya type experience and we all like "High Street Curry", but we want a good civilised one. Currently have Noor Jahan in mind, unless anyone can suggest a better place? Maybe Salloos, but I've not been there for 15 years.

Haandi is in SW7 it's in Cheval Place but has a "back door" from Knightsbridge. I find it good basic place in thi part of town. We often headed there for the a cheap after work meal.

Thanks Phil. My question was very last minute, as we met last night. Too much time spent in The Antelope and The Duke of Wellington meant that the food became less important. However, we did go to Noor Jahan and it was just fine.

I live mucho close to Noor Jahan and have avoided it both because of a negative review by my sister, and a positive review by Kate Moss.

Star of India was my go-to Indian of choice in the neighbourhood but am no longer enamored (90% of my enjoyment was being on familiar terms with the staff, and my aspiration to one day befriend Reza Mohammed).

Was Noor Jahan a bog-standard curry house or something slightly worth seeking out? I've succumbed to ordering Holy Cow delivery whenever I'm lazy and in the mood for curry.
