No worries ...TLK only closed temporarily.

Thanks. Well that was scary! Like alot of places on the midcoast, they take more days off than in the summer.

Shooley, maybe you should delete this post...purge it out of Chowhound forever!

        1. re: MidCoastMaineiac

Sorry...but it's true...I have it on good authority. I am equally dismayed.

Holy crap that's horrible. Well Erin, all I can say is come down to Rockland...we'll find room for you here...

Hey all fellow fans of chef Erin. I know from recently talking with Erin, who is on a much needed break, that she plans on being back in Belfast this summer. Once again making magnificent meals for all to enjoy. I am SO looking forward to it! Keep the faith..stay tuned!

      2. According to their Facebook page, they're gearing up for the summer.

There's a real disconnect here. If she's bailing, then she should just come out with it on her blog.

It is closed - for sure. I too have spoken with a very, very reliable source. It is an unfortunate situation but wishing her the best for her future.

I copied this from TLK's facebook page. Deanna is Erin's mother. Hope this helps put the rumors to rest.

"Deanna Richardson - TLK is indeed closed, but only temporarily. As Erin's mom, I can tell you that she is looking forward to creating more wonderful meals in the very near future. Will let you know when she returns!"

        2. I hope it's just a bad rumor.I would hate to lose such a wonderful place, in so many ways, from the service to the drinks to the food. It would be sorely missed and a real loss.

          1. Not true, just heard from her. She's just taking a much-needed rest.

            1. The sign on the door says 'Closed'. There is no message on the restaurant voicemail. There is no word from Erin, just 'I have spoken to...'. Doesn't really make good business sense if you take a moment to think about it.
Some of us know a much different story. Perhaps it will be that Erin will reopen a restaurant, just in a different location. It seems that this will be a situation of, we shall see when we shall see.

Wrong, she's reopening, she just needed some time to think everything over. : http://thelostkitchen.tumblr.com/

You say that like you want to be proven right Soup...that she will indeed not return to TLK. What's your beef exactly?

                    1. re: MidCoastMaineiac

Whoa...easy. No beef. The Facebook page says the restaurant is currently open - is it? No. Does the voicemail at the restaurant say anything or even allude to reopening date? What does the sign on the restaurant say?... 'Closed' but does it say it will be reopening, 'no'. As I have said before, I wish Erin the best in her future yet, it is important to look at the facts before making such statements as, 'She will be back'. Take a look at it from a business perspective and not an emotional one - you can see something isn't working. Just guarded.

                      1. re: SoupRQT

I suppose there are some things in this game called life that are more important than a business, or a restaurant, or any number of more trivial things...maybe we can all agree upon that.

                1. It almost seems like the poor girl had a breakdown or some form of mental exhaustion if you read between the lines. Running a restaurant is hard work (but it doesn't make one a hero or "brave" as according to some of the posts on their facebook page). No, a restaurant is a business, and, as such should be run like one. Currently, The Lost Kitchen appears to be run more like a "cause" than a "business."

I wish her and her staff luck.

People in here seem to be having an awful hard time of reading between the lines here....amazing.

                    1. re: MidCoastMaineiac

I'm not sure what you mean? Is there something apparent that is not being said? You have people saying the place is closed. A chef/owner's mother writing a note, a chef writing a vague blog about the hard facts of life and needing a breather, and a bunch of people wanting to make reservations and time their trips to Maine accordingly.

                  2. An awful lot of baseless speculation here about something that is none of anyone's business.

                      1. Erin just posted about her next venture - a food truck! (well, technically a food Airstream)
I had been hoping she'd go back to the old private supper format in a new location, but this might be even better.
