Substitute for Nut Tree in Vacaville

We will be in California in May and want to meet some friends midway between San Francisco and Sacramento. In the old days our automatic choice would have been the Nut Tree in Vacaville. Alas, it is no more. What are some good places mid way between these two cities?

The menu still looks good, but I qualify my suggestion because I see they have started franchising a thing called the Buckhorn Grill. I tried the one in Sacramento and disappointing would not begin to describe it on so many levels. I do believe the Buckhorn Steakhouse in Winters is still good.
