oysters in san antonio

We have been to San Antonio several times and have not found a place for good oysters. Our kids (who live there) are not oyster fans and insist there aren't any really good places. Since the Gulf is so close, we find it hard to believe you can't get good, fresh, cheap oysters in San Antonio. Help us find our oyster heaven!! Thanks in advance.

I agree that surprisingly La Margarita in Market Square has huge wonderful oysters. My husband, a New England raw oyster fanatic, swears these oysters are the best in San Antonio.

The Drydock on Fredricksburg has consistently good oysters. We have eaten there on numerous visits to San Antonio. Peel and eat shrimp are wonderful too and it's a fun place.

Water Street Oyster Bar at 7500 Broadway is excellent. I am from Pennsylvania and our oysters from the Chesapeake Bay aren't as good as these! Great food!! Don't miss. I've been to San Antonio 4 times and always go out of my way to get to this place!

They used to serve them on the half-shell at La Margarita in the El Mercado area.. also Water Street Oyster Bar at 7500 Broadway serves oysters.. Another very casual place is Dry Dock Oyster Bar at 8522 Fredericksburg and they also serve crayfish if u like them... ENJOY!!
