Vegetarian-friendly dinner on mid-to-upper East Side?

asm_ny Apr 15, 2013 07:58 AM

I'm looking for a pleasant vegetarian-friendly place to eat somewhere between 72nd and Madison and Grand Central -- preferably closer to 72nd street. Any cuisine with good vegetarian options is fine. Just looking for someplace comfortable and convenient with tasty food. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a price range in mind? Cafe Boulud - a few blocks north on East 76th and Madison - has a vegetarian menu.

Price range was flexible, but we weren't looking for either dirt cheap or top of the line. As it happened, we ended up at Candle 79, which was delightful. Friendly service, yummy food, and excellent cocktails, more upscale than not. Easy to get to by foot from 72nd and Madison, and by subway from Grand Central. Candle Cafe might have been even more convenient, so we'll try that another time. I gather there's a related restaurant Candle Cafe, which we'll try another time.
