Ate here on Friday night and everything was great. Spicy crispy cucumbers, dan dan noodles, steamed dumplings, fried dumplings, won ton soup for appetizers. Entrees were dry hot pot which is served in a mini wok with your choice of meat, pork lo mein, and garlic sauce style, also served with your choice of meat. Our server Jason could not have been nicer and we were not rushed. The only problem was our car got towed.
Even though we cant wait to go back.

  1. Glad you had a great meal. Which location did you dine at? They have locations in Old City, Manayunk, University CIty, Exton and Royersford PA and one across the bridge in NJ.

Car getting towed should have been a giveaway.

Ha ha ha. Is that right? Is that the only Han Dynasty location where cars get towed?

PPA and Old City are like best buds... they are aggressive in Univ City too but not as much at night.

              :) That is funny.

                They tow in Manayunk too....

      2. Happened to friends the last time we ate at Old City site. Thank Ghod we had parked around the corner in a garage. We hauled them to the impound lot.

Try the pork belly ("Chinese bacon") ... amazing!

Not to be mean, but what part of the parking signs didnt someone understand?

          1. re: Bigley9

All of them? I go to the city often enough and feel like I have to read the @#$%^ signs for a half hour to figure out my odds of getting towed. Mostly joking but parking does really suck in parts of the city.

I guess I have lived in Old City/Queen Village too long - they say you start to identify with your captors ; )

Stockholm Syndrome. I understand; you have my sympathies.

        2. I'm sure you already know this by now, but avoid parking on the 100 block of Chestnut in particular when visiting Han Dynasty or other Old City restaurants. Parking is allowed up to a certain time of the evening, but after that (and probably while you are enjoying your meal), it becomes a tow zone!

There's a lot right across the street from Han Dynasty in Old City, and it always has space.

            1. re: gina

Just as a follow-up, I wasn't sure what time they started towing on Chestnut, but turns out it's 7PM sharp. :-(

            2. I took Amtrak last time I visited, which is a great strategy for avoiding those pesky parking issues.

Place was packed on a Saturday, and I was lucky to get a spot at the teeny bar.

Had the twice-cooked fish, and even though it only rated a 4/10 on the heat scale, it was almost more than I could take. But I ate every last bit. I will go back, again hopefully sans auto.

              1. Thanks for the review. I have been to Han Dynasty in Old City (not the other ones). I am sorry that your car got towed. If you like Szechuan cuisine, then also recommend trying either Four Rivers or E Mei in Chinatown. I find both of them to be good.
