Rhubarb in Northern Westchester?

Nancy C Apr 14, 2013 10:57 AM

Went late to the Ossining Farmers Market on Saturday - didn't remember to ask, but didn't see any rhubarb. Anyone seen any yet? Want to make the upside down rhubarb cake from recent NY Times for a party I'm headed to next weekend... thanks much!

Have you tried Zeytinia? They usually have it once it's in season.

There's a great recipe for chicken thighs with rhubarb on Chow. Thanks for the reminder!

I saw it at adams in Newburgh (I know, not westchester) but it was expensive; I think 5.99, so I didn't buy it. But I agree, Zeytinia has often had it "ahead of the curve". But I didn't see it the last time I was there a few days ago.

This is going to be a late season for everything, from what I'm hearing.

      Gajeski had rhubarb.

Oh, I just saw this is for next weekend so that doesn't help you now. I can't think of anywhere else...

I could have sworn the season around here is June. Same time as strawberries. Once you get your hands on some, stew a bunch up and freeze it for the rest of the year.

Saw a crate of it at a store in Brooklyn yesterday, but our fridge died Tuesday, so I couldn't buy and keep for a few days. Am going to Zeytinia tomorrow and hoping it'll be there. Thanks all!

Saw some at Stew Leonard's in Yonkers today.
