Has anyone been to this newish Mexican spot just off Haight? The tacos sound interesting and they have two versions of chilaquiles, both non-standard.
We were looking forward to trying it this coming Sunday, but for reasons that still remain unclear, they called a couple of dayt ago and told us they were cancelling our reservation. Absent some good explanation, I'm not inclined to spend my money there.
not newish anymore, but I went last night for the first time. loved, unreservedly. well, the food, for sure. the restaurant was very very noisy (7:30 p.m. on a Sunday night = packed), even though we sat upstairs, and it's a little pricey for Mexican food, but it's upscale Mexican food, and everything I tasted was terrific: pork belly tacos, quesadilla, enchilada roja, and sopes de chilmole, chips and guac. and they have my new favorite cocktail: La Copa Verde: mescal, chipotle powder, cilantro (pureed), and lime. Smoky heaven. All the food had very distinct flavors, the hot sauces that came with the chips were great, different levels of heat. Really wish this place was in the Mission, as for me, it's better than anything we have for Mexican. service was good too. I think you will love it, grayelf. (unless I missed it and you've already been?)
