Recommendations at Charcut

Hitting up Charcut for the first time this weekend. Just wondering what people recommend to eat, it all sounds so interesting. A lot of the food seem to be shared table meals? There are 3 of us, 2 men in the mix. Looking forward to it!

  1. -Was visiting YYC last week, and had the duck fat-fried poutine and a ginger gimlet at Charcut. Both were some of the best things I've ever tasted.

    1. Charcut's prime rib is amazing. It is the best I have ever had. You order by the ounce. Perfect for sharing. Order the brussel sprouts and smashed potatoes as your sides. Everyone wins.

        I agree. The prime rib is out of this world. I could probably put away a 16 ounce cut on my own.

        Like anonymoose I was baffled by the lack of bread or crackers to go with the charcuterie platter, although with four people sharing it we had almost the opposite problem with the size.

          I would say that you need at least 3-4 people to eat the platter. For two people (which was in my case), it's way too much.

      2. I love their butcher's cut and their desserts! They serve this amazing crunchy stuff with their chocolate dessert.

        1. The beets with goat cheese is my favourite. The steak is good.

          I also liked the charcut board but you have to REALLY like charcuterie to eat that much as there is a lot there. I also found the board quite salty and you need something to eat with it or you will go into salt overload. It would have been nice if they had provided bread or crackers to go with it, but all we had was left-over bread from the raclette that we had ordered as an appetizer.

          1. There are so many great things it's hard to mention them all. My favs are; pigs head mortadella (sliced like paper!), Quebec Raclette Cheese (served with mini broche LOVE these little guys) and the shareburger.

            Ditto on the other recommendations of beet dish, poutine and prime rib - all delicious too.

            1. We had our first visit to Charcut on Friday night. I was happy to make use of some of these suggestions :)

                Loved the place. Had the Charcuterie board which as stated was huge, the mortadella and guanciale were huge hits. After that shared mains of pork chop, clam pasta and prime rib. Flavour was great on all BUT it was all rather tepid. We did send a couple items back for warming and our white wine was frigid! Service was impeccable and desserts were amazing. Panna cotta was the best in recent memory.
