beef jerky places?

Are there any good places to get freshly made beef jerky like there are in NYC?

I searched the forum and only saw a few references to a Vietnamese place w/ beef jerky salad??

  1. Can you describe what you're looking for in more detail?

Some of the hip butchers including Fatted Calf and Fifth Quarter make really good jerky.

Cafe Rouge makes their own jerky too. You can buy it at the meat counter.

He's "around town" and I've seen him at the Oakland First Friday Art Murmur (in the same building as Two Mile Wines) a couple of times.

Oaktown Jerk is excellent. Available at the Old Oakland Farmers' Market Fridays.

          NYC beef jerky...???

I think the OP might be referring to asian style jerky, there are several shops in the lower east side/Chinatown that makes them fresh in the shop.

I haven't been able to find any place in the bay area that makes them fresh. I ran across Jackson Market & Wycen Foods (in Chinatown) as two that make their own asian jerky (but not fresh in store).

Sorry... Yes I mean Asian style beef jerky.
I didn't realize San Fran had Texas style but I'll have to try those out when I visit next month :-)

    2. I can vouch for all three that have already been mentioned.

        1. Lockeford Smokehouse, Lockeford

          Corralitos Market, Corralitos

          Swengils, Jackson

I don't remember the name, but there is a vendor at the Ferry Building Marketplace

          1. I've tried a bunch of the places mentioned.
My favorite is Corralitos, the house made smoked sausages are the major draw and the beef jerky is some of the best I've had anywhere.
Angelo's is a close second. The jerky is amazing, I wasn't as impressed with the sausages.
Fatted Calf is amazing for many things, the jerky is very good but it's not as special as some of their other offerings, nor as good as Corralitos or Angelo's.
