I assume you mean main campus? Not sure how many people, price range, desire for casual vs. formal, etc, but heading over to downtown LA might not be a bad idea (unless you want to eat on the campus itself):

Wanting to eat near campus. Not downtown LA. Any recommendations would be appreciated

Well, The Lab Gastropub is across the street from the campus: http://thelab.usc.edu/#/home

One other walkable place http://mckays.usc.edu/ that is a little more upscale. Both of the places are good choice for their location, rather than their food.

The Lab is extremely loud after 5pm on any given night. Lots and lots of excited, celebratory and hungry students.
I cannot imagine, although I've tried, having a business dinner or lunch there.
Almost nearly impossible to hear each other.

If the OP doesn't want to venture far from the campus then I'd suggest Morton Fig on the campus.
It's upscale and the food has always been actually quite good when I've been there recently. Also, McKays is about the same, food wise.
