  1. So I saw. I'm not sure how I feel about it though. Glad we won but dubious about how.

It was a Chicago style election - it paid off to vote early and often. We (Durham) were apparently the people's choice, the people of Durham that is.

As I recall, Durham was neck and neck with Memphis which based on my two visits there is also a fine city for food, especially for dry rubbed bbq.

And Asheville too. Which is why I'm not overly excited.. its like a high school popularity contest.

I like Durham and it has a great, and improving food scene, but it can't compare with Asheville or Charleston. And Memphis isn't even close to being in the discussion.

I suspect that these towns will be taking their turns winning this award, if they haven't done so already. Also, while it states Durham specifically I think people take into account options throughout the Triangle. In that context I think the Triangle does go toe to toe with those other cities.

    2. The only reason New Orleans didn't win is because they aren't tied to their computers, voting in silly contests all day. They're out eating, drinking, and watching great music.
And probably also because their electricity is still spotty.
