Visiting SF for a week from Montréal - Need restaurant recos

xavpg Apr 7, 2013 12:36 PM

Hello Chowhounders,

This is my first post so I hope I am doing this correctly ;)

I will be visiting SF for a week and would love if you could help me with recommendations of the restaurants not to be missed.

Last time, I went to Nopa, Namu Gaji, Locanda, Blowfish Sushi & the ferry building for lunch and I all loved them.

I have already made reservations for the coming week to AQ, Bar Tartine and St. Vincent. I still have Monday & Wednesday for which I need a dinner option.

Also if you have a wine bar to recommend, it would be great. Last time, I went to California Wine Merchant and liked it. Finally, I would also like to have a great brunch recommendation.

Thank you for your help!

    Incanto's open Mondays.

My new favorite wine bar in SF is Et Al.

My absolute favorite is the Punchdown, which is three blocks from the 19th St. BART station in Oakland.

Terroir, Hotel Biron, and Pause are also first-rate.

Thank you Robert. I tried Et Al + Incanto's and we loved it!

For brunch, I'd recommend Plow on a weekday. Billed as breakfast, but close enough. The weekend brunch menu is also great, but the wait can be daunting, so weekday breakfast is your best bet.

Other brunch favorites: Foreign Cinema, Butler and the Chef, Mission Beach Cafe.

If you liked Blowfish, I'm thinking you'll like Ichi sushi. Not the same, really, but similar in that you don't go there looking for your sushi favorites, you go there to let the chef take you someplace new.
