Paris restaurants open on May 1?
Hi, we arrive in Paris at 8:30AM on May 1, which is Labor Day in Europe. We are staying in an apartment in the 1st not too far away from the Louvre, about a block from the Monoprix.
We know that most restaurant and shops are shuttered closed that day, partly because of the labor demonstrations, which begin in Tuilleries and the Garnier area.
Is there anyone that knows of any casual bistros that would be open on May 1 for an early dinner?
We have heard that Café Marly is open that day, but we are looking for something a bit more casual.
How about a small shop where we could pick up some milk, juice, bread, yogurt on May 1 close to our apartment.
. Monoprix is closed.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I think the Franprix chain is open in the morning on the Fête du Travail. Dunno which would be closest to you but do a google search.
Usually the big parade from Denfert-Rochereau to the Bastille and the PS march to Nation just tie up parts of the Latin Quarter and eastern Paris. But now right wing groups organize their own demos in the central and western sections of the Rive Droite. So transport chaos and unpredictability. Fortunately, it's mostly confined to the afternoon and early evening.
