Former Lime chef, Masa Kudo now at Blue Water

After Lime and Japanese Kitchen closed, he moved back to Japan thinking he would stay forever. He got married and decided to come back to Vancouver. He is now at Blue Water where he worked prior to opening Lime. (He was chef at Tojo prior to that, fyi).

Anyways - I know a bunch of you wanted to know where is ended up. One of the best sushi chefs in Vancouver.

  1. How does he stack up to Yoshi?

      Masa has a more modern touch but still firmly rooted in tradition. Precision knife work. (Is Yoshi back at Blue Water now that the abominable Ki is gone?)

        I prefer Masa's stuff to Yoshi's FWIW -- loved Lime, great loss to the Drive when it closed. But not a fan of the ambiance (or prices!) at Blue Water, so unless I can wangle a work do there...

        Well 4 of us descended on Blue Water last night and we all made gluttons of ourselves. Sushi, oysters, foie gras were shared for starters. Then we moved on to tuna, arctic char, halibut, and scallops & prawns with risotto.

        Everything was absolutely incredible. Service was also bang on.

        Easily my favourite restaurant in Vancouver!

            It was a very large number!
            Around 700 bones but we drank a lot of wine!
