Local Beer of the Month (Tentative)

Since I took over the Dish of the Month thread, I was wondering if anyone would be interested if I started a Local Beer of The Month thread. It seems like the new "it" thing is the local brewery scene. And I hope this trend continues. Because, apparently, Mpls-St. Paul does not have an Iconic Sandwich (or otherwise cuisine), maybe with the influx of new breweries opening up, this town could become a beer destination. I mean, let's be honest. Do we really want to be known only for the Jucy Lucy? (No offense to Jucy Lucy fans). Perhaps if I start this thread, it might inspire our local brewers to create even more awesome beers than they are already making. After visiting Dangerous Man this past weekend, it really has affirmed to me that when beer is brewed locally and is "fresh", nothing else can compare. Any thoughts?

  1. I love this idea! I'd be very interested in monthly threads that focus on a local brewer. We've got some great beer in this town - let's talk about it!!!!

I think this would be a good topic to discuss, but I have a feeling that ChowHound won't allow this discussion because beer is not technically a food and they will probably delete it.

Consider this the all clear from us.

We have a category dedicated to beer, and it is considered fully on-topic to discuss local beers and brew-pubs and what not in regional categories.

I nominate Steel Toe size 7. I know I'm jumping the gun but what the heck....

      1. I think it would be interesting to have a monthly thread focusing on a particular brewer. Another very closely related idea would be to focus on a style of beer for a month and compare the offerings from a number of different local brewers.

        1. Imperial Pepper Pot Porter from Indeed was quite tasty at their tap room. The other beers weren't so good.
