please help! I'm looking for good lobster rolls or a GREAT seafood place for lunch in Laguna Beach. And I need it soon. Been to the nearby Crab Cooker dozens of times, but don't wish to spend that kind of money, so we need it to be affordable also. Thanks for any help!

      LOVE that place!!!

To OP, I think seeking a quintessential New England dish, i.e., lobster roll, is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

We went here for our lobster rolls. They were pretty decent. I hardly hold the same ideal for a lobster roll in SoCal as I do in NE, that way I can enjoy what we do here! This lobster roll used shredded lobster, but it still managed to be tasty on a good bun. It was as good as any affordable sandwich at lunch. We all had the lobster roll and agreed that it was definitely enjoyable. I'd be frustrated if I just skipped dishes that were quintessential to another place.
The place is a little weird with their service at lunch.

        Affordable?

I would probably not classify as affordable their seafood specials based on my bank balance. Bill Gates would probably disagree: http://www.cafezoolu.com/cafe-zoolu-m... On the other hand some of their entrees and of course their pastas do qualify, even on my limited budget.

Russkar turned me on to this place. He was always raving about the swordish and he was right, it's fantastic.

You are correct! The menu looks great but the price point is high at this place. We mistakenly thought Zoolu was on Forest Av and wound up at "350". Had the Lake trout and loved it!

If you are willing to drive 15 minutes, the Harbor Grill in Dana Point is a terrific family owned and run seafood restaurant. I think it's open for lunch.
