Refreezing thawed, frozen cooked whelks?


I bought some frozen cooked whelks, defrosted them at room temperature but only ate half of them.

Then I immediately put the remaining ones back in the freezer.

Is it safe to defrost them again and eat them cold?

    I've operated under the assumption that once thawed, it has to be consumed or cooked before refreezing. A few years ago someone posted a link to the USFDA website where it said that as long as whatever was thawed and remained cold (in a fridge) it was okay to refreeze. I now use this guideline.

      Yeah that's the problem, I defrosted the bloody things at room temperature.

      My original plan was to eat the whole bag but once again my eye's were bigger than my belly. :P
