Trader Joe's coming to Randolph

Just discovered that Trader Joe's has signed a contract for opening a store in Randolph. It will be located on Rt 10 W between Millbrook Ave and Center Grove Rd. Construction on the new shopping center is set to begin this spring.

Looks like Morris County is getting quite a nice influx of new grocery stores with this new TJ's in Randolph, a Wegman's in Hanover Twp, Whole Foods stores in Parsippany and Morristown, not to forget a large new Shop Rite in Cedar Knolls.

  1. That will be a nice addition. I thought the Wegman's in E Hanover was voted down though?

Wegman's had initially looked at a site in E. Hanover, (near the Burger King) and it was rebuffed, the site they have a signed deal for is in Hanover, (a different town altogether), at Ridgedale Ave just north of rte 10. It is my understanding that the Ridgedale Ave location was approved by the Twp. planning board already.

    2. How exciting! This was posted back in April - has anyone seen any signs of construction? I've been going to Florham Park to get groceries and it will be great to shave time off my commute.

I drove by the site and they have been clearing trees and brush. Lots of heavy equipment, not sure if they have technically broken ground, or are still just clearing the land.

Heard a rumor that the plans for Trader Joe's in Randolph have been cancelled. Can anyone confirm? I, for one will be very disappointed if true.

It's not much, but I did find this "Coming Soon" page at TJ's website:

Randolph, NJ is not on the list. That could easily mean that they just haven't gotten around to adding it yet. On the other hand, if someone knows for sure that Randolph used to be on the list, then the fact that it's not there now would imply that the Randolph store isn't coming.

I've been meaning to drive by the proposed site, maybe I'll do that this weekend on my way to buy bagels and look for a TJ sign or something.

I've heard the same thing :( Also Gary's Wine as well as Grillfish (?) not going in either. Back to square one!
