Can anyone suggest a reasonable, friendly place for dinner near Jack London Square in Oakland for 12 people? Not a Chain restaurant...

Lungomare is great for this--- we've had multiple positive reviews of 8+ parties there recently. Nice seafood/italian on the water in the heart of Jack London Square. Easy parking steps away and brand new as of a month ago.

What are your favorites? I'm usually just hitting the same menu items and would like to branch out :).

Salads, ceviche, empanadas. Can't remember what I've had when I had dinner there. The one thing I would not order again is the crab deviled eggs, there's a sour element that makes the crab taste off to me.

          Large party menu:

I would say that both Bocanova and Lungomare are good choices. They're both big enough to accommodate large parties easily, the menus are accessible enough so that everyone can find something they like, and they aren't super expensive.

If you've got a lot of kids in your party, Lungomare is probably a safer choice. Adults might prefer Bocanova.

          What's the price range?

Forge Pizza, also in Jack London Sq might work. I haven't been but do a search, there are reviews.

For 12, probably too loud and crowded.

Yoshi's. nice dining ambience. menu has meat items, non sushi dishes along with good sushi.
