Ok just checked google maps and it says about 25 minute walk , as I'm pressed for time is there anything closer to the hotel that fits the bill ?

Happy hour at the Virginia Inn. All small plates half-price 4-6 everyday. I haven't been in a while but I remember their cheese plate as particularly well-curated.

+ 1 for the Virginia Inn

and a big -1 for Mama's Mexican Kitchen--has to be the most truly awful excuse for Mexican food I've ever had.

How about a good greasy diner for brekkie though and must be a close walk as well

La Vita E Bella & Wasabi Bistro come to mind. Also The Frontier Room. For truly cheap, there is alway's Mama's Mexican Kitchen.
