Help! We're on a tight budget visiting our niece who is studying in Florence. We arrive 4/5 and depart from Rome 4/12. Recommendations for affordable dining? We have a place to stay in Florence but need recommendations for 2 nights in Rome. Nothing touristy!

It would be well worth your while to go to the upper right-hand corner of this page and do searches for both Florence and Rome. You will find many, many recent threads about dining in each city with tons of helpful recommendations.

Two favorites of this board in Forence are Sostanza (for bistecca and butter chicken) and Trattoria Mario.

For lunch, try the boiled beef sandwich at the Nerbone foodstand in the Mercato Centrale.

If you simply scroll down this board, you will find several current & active threads on dining in Rome.

The Beehive not far from Termini is a stylish, affordable spot to stay.
