Veal Rib Chop

Hughlipton Mar 29, 2013 09:33 AM

Who in the Los Angeles area makes a great grilled veal chop with the frenched bone. I don't know why I got a hankering for it, but a veal rib chop and a bottle of red wine, yum

I had a very good veal rib chop at Mattao's on Westwood blvd served with porcini mushroom sauce. Plenty of good red wines to choose from.

I saw one on the menu at Mastro's. (I assume it was rib and not porterhouse-type chop.) I like the food at Mastro's, so...

Baron's suggestion of Matteo's is sounding really good to me, too. Most of the best rib veal chops I've had have been at northern Italian restaurants.

Madeo on Beverly. It's been a while but I believe it's grilled and topped with a sage butter. Warning, it's very spendy, even as far as veal chops go.

I don't think it's more than 45 bucks, which is pricy but not much more than other bona fide veal chops around town.

The bone is not frenched but the veal rib chop at Salt's Cure is a thing of beauty. You do have to check their facebook to see when they have it.

I was at Toscana the other night and it was on the menu. I have had that veal chop and it is outstanding. Highly recommend.
