THAI THAI RESTAURANT ON HAWAII ISLAND

My son and daughter in law (first Hawaii visitor) will be attending the Merrie Monarch festival. They will be staying in the Volcano area and has asked about this Thai Thai restaurant, which will be close to where they stay. Any input/review that I can convey to them about this resto? Mahalo...

My kids were not impressed... too touristy and crowded. Perhaps it's because of the Merrie Monarch festival?

On the way back to the mainland, we had dinner at Thai Lao in Kapolei and were very happy with the food and service...

I think it probably was due to Merrie Monarch. Its kind of like talking about the service you got in a restaurant in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, or any other restaurant on some kind of holiday. At least I hope that is the reason.

Quite acceptable Thai food. Sadly there are fewer choices in Volcano than there used to be.

a couple of years ago we stayed in volcano village for 4 nights during the monarch festival. we loved the thai restaurant so much we got take out twice to eat back at home watching the competition. We especially enjoyed a pork curry with succulent baby eggplant made spicy at our request as well as the americanized standard of pad thai, but also heated up a notch.

Nothing to write home about and then again your choices of places to dine are very limited. Not bad but not what I would choose.

What would you choose in Volcano?
