Bakng Mix

randyjl Mar 28, 2013 10:43 PM

Please don't jump all over me, but there are a few recipes that start with Bisquik. I was wondering if anyone has experience substituting any other general purpose baking mix suck as Krustez or Morrisons. Before you ask, I don't use it for bisquits.

I'm sure Krusteaz and Morrisons are good alternatives to Bisquik.

Or, you can do an internet search for 'homemade Bisquik recipe'. I'm sure it uses ingredients you already have on hand, such as flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and some shortening or butter.

I am unfamiliar with Krusteaz and Morrison's but I regularly buy, and recommend, Trader Joe's Multigrain Pancake and Baking mix.

Most baking mixes are just four main ingredients - flour, baking powder, salt and shortening (plus a bunch of preservatives, dough conditioners, etc). Some homemade mixes also add powdered milk, although most commercial mixes don't contain that ingredient.

        Most are interchangeable.
