Dish of the Month SF (April 2013) - Nominations

It's time to choose a Dish of the Month for SF Bay Area for April 2013

The idea is this: choose a 'Dish of the Month' for SF Bay Area and then collectively try as many versions of this dish as possible, reporting back with details and photos. It's great to talk about places you've been in the past, but the idea is to explore new places and make new discoveries.

The dish that gets chosen might be something very specific (minestrone soup, xiao long bao) but might also be more of a dish category (stuffed pasta dishes, Asian fried chicken). It's up to the users, but it probably makes sense to choose something that locals are excited about trying and finding the best versions! In the past, the dish of the month inspired a few Chowdowns so people could try the dish together....hopefully this tradition can continue!

This is the nomination thread for April 2013…you can nominate as many dishes as you want, but once we do the voting thread (which will start on March 29), it will be one vote per user.

To nominate a dish, post it in ALL CAPS in the responses below. You can also second nominations made by others by using the recommend button. I will start out by nominating some of the runners-up from last month. This thread will be open until March 28th.

Let the nominations begin!

ASPARAGUS (in caps) -- but would that be as a vegetable side dish only or featured in something like risotto or with poached eggs etc.?

                1. re: Glencora

I think the answer to that is to combine the two right above: asparagus pizza!

                  1. re: Glencora

Any way of preparing asparagus. It's that time of year.

If not doing all caps means my vote doesn't count, fine.

I'm with you in terms of having so many heavy DOTM's. I really enjoy reading everyone's takes and tips on various DOTMs. But part of the fun of DOTM is also to get to personally try lots of different version of a dish. I'm the last person to bring up "health," but with heavier foods it's difficult to sustain several different dishes in a month.

                      1. re: Robert Lauriston

You have my respect for not following an arbitrary rule for a feature we don't particularly need, but -- does your wife ever call you perverse? Enjoy your wonton noodle soup. :)

                          1. I will jump on the WONTON NOODLE SOUP movement.
